The orginator of the concept was Gilbert BERINGER, Chairman and Managing Director of BERINGER SA, a Loire Valley-based SME which designs and manufactures high-tech braking systems. Wanting to perpetuate his presence in the Japanese market, Gilbert BERINGER wondered whether certification guaranteeing the “ethical” origin and traceability of industrial products existed, because, for a Japanese customer, the way a product is manufactured is at least as important as the product itself.
After various exchanges with industrial partners and colleagues, it turned out :
- that there was no « ethical » certification or label
for industrial products
- that other manufacturers were concerned, like him,
to guarantee the origin of their products
Amongst them, Lucien WEBER (AVENTIS PARTNERS) and Jean-Paul RASCLE (MÉCACONCEPT).

Following their exchanges, Lucien WEBER, Jean-Paul RASCLE and Gilbert BERINGER devised a concept in the form of a LABEL which would act for The development of an ethical, sustainable economy .
This founding idea would give birth to the Association (1901 Act), « MADE IN RESPECT », whose statutes would be filed in December 2006.
